F*** you for doubting my dream.

When I first said the words out loud, “I want to go to Pakistan”, the looks of horror around me stand still in my mind.

“You can’t go there”. “You’ll get your head cut off”. “There are so many better places to go”. “It’s impossible” Their words trying to cut into my dream. Words are the most dangerous dream-killer of em’ all.

But I kept my eye on my dream. It was so fuzzy, like an old photograph that I couldn’t quite make out, but I knew it’d be beautiful once I could see it clearly.

The moment I stepped off the plane into Pakistan, I might’ve well have been Neil Armstrong taking his first step onto the moon, knowing that everybody said he couldn’t do it and not quite knowing what to expect. It’s a moment of victory and triumph mixed with curiosity and fear; years of training and dreaming culminating into one split moment.

This is one small step for a Manicorn. One giant leap for Manicorn-kind.
