Black Doctors Talk Podcast Ep18: Dr. Joshua Nelson - Policing, Activism, and Ministry
Join us on this week’s Black Doctors Talk Podcast which features our guest, Dr. Joshua C. Nelson. Dr. Nelson speaks to us on the topic of policing, activism, and ministry. Currently, he serves as Pastor of two churches in South Georgia and runs Mind, Body, Soul Consultation where he and his wife provide pastoral counseling, mental health counseling, financial coaching and a nutritional coaching experience.
During the podcast, Dr. Nelson discusses his introduction into ministry and some of the challenges he has overcome, his dissertation work with local youth and police officers, and his thoughts on the importance of community activism. He also shares details about the services he provides through his non-profit organizations and why this work is important to him.
Dr. Nelson holds a doctoral degree in Urban Ministry with an emphasis in police and community relations. He has held the title of Pastor for the last thirteen years and has managed over seven churches, an Academy, and daycare. He is the former host of the 3ABN television program Pure Choices and the feature of the documentary series The Book of Joshua for revitalizing churches. He has authored two books, The Book of El, which is a 31 day devotional towards restorative justice that he co-authored with his wife, Dr. Kimberly Nelson, and In the Trenches: 10 Reasons to Stay in Ministry which you can find on his website www.joshuacnelson.org
