Did you know that the crew of Mission: Impossible III set up a fake second unit to deter onlookers? With a $150 million budget for Mission: Impossible III, J.J. Abrams' first picture as a director set a new record for the most costly film produced by a first-time director. The producers struggled to get rid of the crowds that gathered to witness the movie being made when the crew was filming in Rome. In order to pretend to film scenes for the movie, they put up a fake second unit down the street, hired young girls in bikinis, and elderly ladies disguised as nuns. While the actual unit was mostly unaltered, the false unit drew crowds.
