Farmland is disappearing. Ontario currently loses 319 acres per day according to the 2021 Census of Agriculture, and this will only become worse due to the recently passed Bill 23 and proposed carving up of the Greenbelt. But with the power of citizen activism, hope abounds—we can take part in defending farmland and building a secure food future!

This panel will explore the power of citizen activism to fight back against urban sprawl and irresponsible development. We’ll discuss success stories and effective strategies in stopping the sprawl and protecting farmland.
