Issues of migration have been at the heart of European debates for many years. From the Arab Spring to the refugee crisis of 2015, the countless crises that swept across European borders transformed Europe into an increasingly hostile environment for migrants and refugees. Member States built walls to protect external borders and adopted ever more stringent measures to further restrict access to the right of asylum. It is within this troublesome context that new and heterogeneous social movements began, made up of legal aid grassroots initiatives, activists, academics, NGOs, dedicated to strengthening and supporting the rights of migrants and refugees.

This free, online training programme is designed to help young European activists become involved in, and make a difference to, support and solidarity projects with migrants and asylum seekers. The programme is led by an international pool of law professors, activists, lawyers and project managers, all of whom have many years of experience in, and a long-standing commitment to, the field of protection of migrants’ rights.
