India Today Live TV: Opposition Protest In Parliament | Kejriwal's Plea In Court | New Criminal

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh said that the Opposition INDIA bloc will stage a protest against the "misuse" of investigation agencies in the Parliament premises on Monday.

Addressing a press conference on Sunday, Singh said that the INDIA bloc parties had a meeting at Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge's residence on Saturday over the issue of "misuse"of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and it was decided that they would stage a protest in the Parliament premises at 10.30 am on Monday.

Three new criminal laws -- Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita and the Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam -- came into effect across the country on Monday. These laws will replace the colonial-era Indian Penal Code, Code of Criminal Procedure and the Indian Evidence Act, respectively.
A first FIR (First Information Report), under the new criminal laws, was registered on Monday at Delhi's Kamla Market Police Station, against a street vendor.
