Chris Day was unfortunately unable to continue this series with me, so nevertheless here are my thoughts/Review on Mission: Impossible III!! With Rogue Nation releasing in two days, this is the third Old Movie Review in my Mission: Impossible series. Released in 2006 and directed by first-timer J.J. Abrams, Mission: Impossible III shows us an Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) who is looking to settle down with a wife (Michelle Monaghan) and retire from his work in the IMF. A new mission calls him out of retirement however and pits him and his team aganist a notorious arms dealer (Phillip Seymour-Hoffman) bent on obtaining the rabbits foot. It's up to Ethan to stop him before he loses everything, including his own wife. Mission: Impossible III is the best film of the franchise thus far as it manages to never slow down in pace or excitement! What did yiu guys think of M:I 3?

OVERALL RATING: 9.25/10 or A-
The "Last Crusade" of the Mission: Impossible franchise for me, Mission: Impossible III is a wildly exciting, high octane, electrifying sequel that not only never slowed down, but only further progresses and gets only more and more enthralling. I mean, I was literally nervously tapping the table as I was watching the final half hour. I got into it. Tom Cruise returns as Ethan Hunt and successfully brings us a side of the character we've never seen before; an Ethan Hunt who is constantly in peril and always on the run. He never has a chance to stop and rest, like he did in the first two films, which therefore only furthers invests you into the gripping, pulse pounding story and action. We also get to see the Ethan Hunt who is ready to put his days out in the field to bed as he wants to settle down with Michelle Monaghan... for about 20 minutes. Ving Rhames and Simon Pegg provide likable supporting characters, while Phillip Seymour-Hoffman does incredible work as a twisted, angry antagonist of the series, despite not enough backstory (the scene that opens the movie however is one of the best scenes to open a movie, ever). Mind-numbing and nail-biting action sequences fuel this highly fast-paced story, while upcoming Star Wars helmer JJ Abrams delivers a wonderful directorial debut.. My only flaw lies within some aspect of the story itself; Hoffman needed more screen time and even a little backstory and although I love a fast paced movie, one could argue that there is too much action and explosions, thus causing the depth of the actual plot and character progression to be a little lacking and convoluted. Overall, this is extremely entertaining and I highly recommend it!
