Pseudo planche push ups (PPPUs) are one of the many push up variations you can learn, but what makes them unique is that they're very demanding on the shoulders and wrists, plus even incorporates biceps as a stabilizer. In this video, I demonstrate the proper form cues for the pseudo planche push up along with recommended hand placement and common mistakes to avoid.

*** Note: Although I did not mention this in the video, please make sure to ALWAYS warm up and especially focus on your wrists during your warm up when training any planche progressions. This video is a good place to start for wrist prep: https://youtu.be/W4lfJDrpEH4 ****

This is all approached for beginners who are new to calisthenics and are looking to branch out into intermediate pushing exercises or starting their planche journey.

When it comes to planche progressions, people are often very touchy on form and will say you need a highly developed (very far forward) planche lean in order to do pseudo planche push ups "properly." I disagree with this. In my experience, you can start working on your PPPUs even while you're still developing your planche lean. In fact, I tell people to take it slow developing their planche lean since it puts so much load on the wrists. It's better to take your time developing the wrist strength and mobility than risk an injury. Instead, as you make progress in your planche lean, work on developing your PPPUs continually as your lean progresses.

I hope the info in this video is helpful for anyone interested in this exericse. I've received some complaints here and there that a I talk too much (which is very odd to say to a free personal trainer or coach, but oh well) so I tried to keep this video as concise and too the point as possible.

Thanks for watching!
