In the Lok Sabha, BJP member and former Union Minister Anurag Thakur initiated the debate on the Motion of Thanks on the President’s Address. Members of Opposition parties belonging to the Indian National Developmental, Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) group walked out of Lok Sabha after Speaker Om Birla refused to allow discussion on NEET row. The Lok Sabha has allocated 16 hours for the debate on the Motion of Thanks, which will conclude with the reply by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah briefs press on the new criminal laws that have come into effect from today. He says, "After 75 years of independence new criminal laws are in place."

Union Home Minister Amit Shah reassured the public that the three new criminal laws, which replaced colonial-era statutes on Monday, would focus on providing justice instead of punishment and criticised the Opposition parties for politicising the issue.

The acrimony seen between the govt, and opposition is expected to continue today as well. Opposition had not allowed motion of thanks to begin on Friday, demanding a discussion on NEET first while govt and Speaker there was no such precedence and govt would respond to all queries if opposition raises it during motion of thanks.
